Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Underground/​Surface Maintenance Technician with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in industrial or plant maintenance. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing crushers, conveyor systems, batch plant equipment, and all associated mechanical components.


Qualifications

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance (PM/CM) on crushers, conveyors, batch plant systems, screens, feeders, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical failures and complete repairs in a timely manner to reduce downtime.
  • Conduct routine inspections and document maintenance activities.
  • Maintain and repair air compressors, motors, bearings, gearboxes, and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform piping fabrication, basic welding, torch cutting, and structural repairs as needed.
  • Fabricate and install liners, chutes, guards, and other wear components.
  • Assist with equipment rebuilds, installation of new equipment, and system improvements.
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with company safety policies and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with operations staff to prioritize maintenance needs and support efficient plant performance.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with crushers, conveyors, or batch plant equipment.
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.
  • Proficiency in fabrication, basic welding, torch cutting, and use of hand/​power tools.
  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, bearings, and rotating equipment.
  • Strong commitment to safety and compliance with mining regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment under demanding conditions.
  • Effective communication skills to relay technical information and equipment status.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Physically fit and able to work in confined underground spaces.
  • Schedule is a 7 on and 7 off schedule, DS/NS and overtime as needed.

Working Conditions

  • Work performed both underground in a mining environment and on surface in workshops or yard facilities.
  • Exposure to dust, noise, vibration, diesel emissions, and varying temperatures.
  • Use of PPE always required (hard hat, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, gloves, etc.).

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
  • Must be able to work shift work with 12-hour shifts.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
  • Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.
