In its 35-year history, Macraes has continuously extended its mine life through successful exploration, a testament to our team’s persistence and technical skill. Macraes also benefits from our team’s vital knowledge in refractory ore processing.
With nearly 700 employees, Macraes is frequently the first mine in New Zealand to adopt new technologies with the aim of making the operation safer, more efficient, and better for the environment. It was the first mine in the country to commission an electric shovel and the first to implement x-ray technology to analyze gold content in ore samples.
