A recent consent for the Waihi North Project, a new mine to be developed 6km north of the existing operation has provided a long term extension of mine life providing our 400 staff and contractors, and the people of Waihi, an assurance that we plan to be here for the long-term.

The Underground Electrical Supervisor co-ordinates, leads and supervises electrical personnel in the safe and efficient execution of their maintenance and installation tasks.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Operational
- Work as part of a high-performing team committed to the safe and efficient production of gold.
- Supervise electrical personnel in performance of their duties and maintain a high standard of safety and work quality ensuring electrical works are completed safely, compliantly and to agreed scope, quality, and schedule.
- Plan and schedule electrical work on a daily and weekly basis.
- Estimate time and order materials required complete electrical works.
- Support the training, mentoring and competency development of electrical section personnel.
- Coordinate and contribute to the planning and execution of underground electrical projects including shutdown and isolation planning where required.
- Ensure compliance checks are completed diligently and in line with the stipulations listed in the electrical maintenance management plan.
- Provide electrical shift coverage as required and participate in the on-call roster during rostered ‘days on’.
Qualifications
- New Zealand Electrical Practicing licence with Mining Endorsement or preferably hold or have the correct skills and experience to obtain an Electrical Mining endorsement.
- Working at heights.
- HV switcher and/or HV jointer qualification preferable.
- At least 5 years relevant underground mining preferably in a hard rock mining environment.
- Full New Zealand Driver Licence with the ability to drive a manual vehicle.
Experience
- Great interpersonal skills and an enthusiastic approach to work, with a willingness to contribute to the team.
- Previous experience in electrical project work and proven ability to effectively lead tradesmen.
- Five years post apprenticeship trade experience, preferably in an underground mining environment.
- Knowledge of PLC’s and VSD’s installation, commissioning and maintenance.
