Job Description

Under the direction of the Environmental Superintendent, implement and support initiatives for managing all aspects associated with land management. 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct environmental rehabilitation activities in accordance with plans.
  • Conduct weed and pest animal control around the mine site, rehabilitated areas, covenants and other site areas as required.
  • Assist consultants and contractors engaged for environmental monitoring, maintenance, development and research at the direction of the Superintendent – Environmental and Advisors- Environmental.
  • Maintenance and enhancement of the general site including visitor viewing areas, walkways, car parks, mine office areas and grounds as well as the main interpretation centre. Such duties include but are not limited to grass mowing; weed eating, spraying, weed and pest control, rubbish removal and signage maintenance.
  • Ensure fencing is maintained for the protection of environmental rehabilitation and stock control as directed by the Superintendent- Environmental.
  • Maintenance and security of equipment, such as environmental monitoring equipment, lawn mowers, weed-eaters, chainsaws, power tools and assorted general tools.

Qualifications

  • Prefer a minimum of a tertiary qualification in Environmental or Earth Sciences, Ecology, Geography, Resource Management or similar
  • Full and Current Driver Licence with ability to drive manual vehicles preferred

Experience: 

  • You will need to be physically fit and active to navigate steep and slippery terrain
  • 4WD experience an advantage
  • Microsoft suite of programs: — Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams
  • Mapping software (e.g. ArcMap, MapInfo) an advantage
  • GrowSafe Certification beneficial
  • Chain saw qualification or practical experience beneficial
  • Experience with weed and pest control would be an advantage
  • Report writing and presentation an advantage
  • Data management systems and software (e.g. PI Vision, SCADA, InViron, Power BI) beneficial
