Job Description

The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Company’s only asset that produces both gold and copper. Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine, with over 800 employees that support the mine.

OceanaGold is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Specialist — Maintenance Planning (Short-Term), who is responsible for planning and executing short-term scheduled plans for all equipment maintained by the department for both surface and underground. This role reports to the Superintendent — Maintenance Planning.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed short-term maintenance schedules, considering production requirements, resource availability, and priorities.
  • Monitors work order completion rates and identifies improvement opportunities for scheduling efficiency.
  • Monitors and manages inventory levels for critical spare parts and consumables required for short-term maintenance activities.
  • Defines and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) for short-term maintenance activities, such as downtime, mean time between failures (MTBF), and mean time to repair (MTTR)
  • Analyzes performance data to identify trends, root causes, and areas for improvement.
  • Identifies opportunities for improving short-term maintenance planning and execution processes.

Educational Background:

  • Graduate of Mechanical/​Electrical Engineering or related field.

Work Experience and Background:

  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in maintenance planning or engineering within the metals and mining industry or a similar heavy sector environment.

Specialization/​License:

  • Licensed Mechanical/​Electrical Engineer or related engineering field.
  • Professional Driver’s License

Knowledge:

  • Advanced understanding of mechanical/​electrical systems and their applications in mining operations.
  • Deep understanding of material science including wear, corrosion, and fatigue.
  • Strong Mathematical and Analytical Skills.
  • Proficiency in Physics and Mechanics.
  • Thermodynamics, Fluid mechanics, and heat transfer principles as applied to industrial equipment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance processes, including predictive and preventive maintenance strategies.

Skills:

  • Exceptional analytical and mathematical skills for complex problem-solving and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in technical drawings and expertise in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software or similar.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for maintenance scheduling and inventory control.

Abilities:

  • Proven problem-solving capabilities with a strategic approach to machinery reliability and maintenance optimization.
  • Project management skills to oversee maintenance projects from planning to execution.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present complex information clearly and concisely.
