Job Description
The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Company’s only asset that produces both gold and copper. Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine, with over 800 employees that support the mine.
OceanaGold is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Senior Engineer — Mine Planning, The purpose of mining engineering in the planning and execution phases revolves around ensuring efficient, safe, and environmentally responsible extraction of mineral resources.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Enhances current engineering design and conducts thorough analysis considering multiple areas of application and viability
- Compares the pros and cons of alternative design options and develops an optimized design alternative based on risk, reliability, and/or uncertainty analysis
- Gathers and analyzes information to enable the cost-effective allocation of resources that are available for maintenance to provide the highest levels of safety and reliability of engineered systems and works
- Prepares mine plans with minimal guidance.
- Coordinates mine planning with various teams.
- Lead the development and implementation of project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, identify potential risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Develops solutions to mitigate risk and maximize value
- Periodically performs audits to check compliance with regulatory requirements

Educational Background:
- Graduate of Mining Engineering
Work Experience and Background:
- 3 years’ Experience within the underground mining environment or equivalent
Specialization/License:
- Registered mining engineer
Knowledge:
- Explosives management
- Mining operations (Surface and Underground)
- Safety standards
- Deswik CAD and Scheduler
- INX
- Principles of Mine Planing
Skills:
- Strong analytical skill
- Communication skills (written & verbal)
- Computer skills
Abilities:
- Ability to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities
- Ability to perform tasks to prescribed deadline whilst ensuring quality
- Possess high level of accuracy and meticulousness towards work
Ability to perform tasks independently or with the group - Display good housekeeping skills
- Demonstrate flexible, practical and professional approach to duties.
- Ability to promote effective working relations within a production-oriented environment.
- Demonstrate high degree of safety and environmental awareness
- Ability to use logic and intuition to arrive at decisions or solutions to problems to achieve the desired outcome.
