Job Description
The Macraes Health & Safety team are looking for an Our Safe Behaviours Program Coordinator. This 18-month fixed-term position will work to coordinate and lead regular (weekly/monthly) Our Safe Behaviour meetings with Opinion Leaders and Leadership teams across site.
The aim of the Our Safe Behaviours programme is to improve site health, safety and wellbeing of our workers. This is achieved through encouraging workers to follow procedures, assess the risk, speak up and manage fatigue. Through identifying the behaviours which need to change we can then apply actions to encourage this change.

Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Coordinate and lead regular (weekly/monthly) Our Safe Behaviours meetings with Opinion Leaders and Leadership team
- Track and follow all safety suggestions through the site Our Safe Behaviours ‘game plan’ and provide update/feedback to Leadership team on regular basis
- Assist Health and Safety (H&S) department and Opinion Leaders to coach and follow the identified safety behaviours
- Keep posters and notice boards up to date with Our Safe Behaviours information
- Observe, reinforce, and provide feedback regarding the safety behaviours of workers, Supervisors and Management at pre-shift/chase meetings
- Support the site H&S team in encouraging workers to report incidents, injuries, near misses and hazards.
- Support workers, supervisors, and management team to drive compliance, and initiatives that positively influence the safety culture and performance of the site teams
- In partnership with the H&S team, coordinate, schedule and deliver the Our Safe Behaviours workshop to all new employees and workers
- Encourage and support compliance to safety programs and procedures
- Actively participate in Gold Standard Leadership program by undertaking work area inspections and task observations
- Write a monthly article for the site newsletter updating “Our Safe Behaviours”
- Actively participate in H&S rep meetings including sharing OSB information and updates
Qualifications
- Experience in a mining environment either in open pit, processing, underground operations, or maintenance would be preferred but is not essential
- Full and Current Class 1 Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred
- Applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is preferred
