Job Description
Haile Gold Mine located in South Carolina is the largest gold mine on the East Coast of America. Our employees are at the heart of all we do. Reporting to, the Projects Construction Manager. The Project Controls Engineer (PCE) is responsible for performing a variety of tasks including scheduling, planning, estimating, and cost control tasks that include analysis and reporting. The PCE is also responsible for developing and updating a master schedule and verifying contractor’s monthly schedules and reviewing baseline schedules utilizing Microsoft Project and other scheduling software.
Key Tasks:
- Ability to develop and maintain a master schedule with interrelationships between projects.
- Must be competent in the development and analysis of detailed project schedules.
- Must be experienced in developing and using performance trackers for analysing manpower, equipment, and construction progress
- Ability to organize, analyze, and present information regarding costs and schedules.
- Must be experienced in preparing estimates and evaluating contractor cost proposals.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing clearly, concisely, and effectively with team and other personnel.
- Ability to prepare reports for various purposes.
- Must be experienced in Project scheduling software such as Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office software.
- Must have proficiency in English language both verbal and written.
- Scheduling experience for complex heavy industrial projects is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for tracking invoice flow, developing work schedule, monitoring cost, or assisting in the development of project work breakdown structure and sequencing.
- Collect progress data from site personnel and assemble into progress report.
- Update master schedule and various project schedules.
- Review contractor baseline schedules and verify contractor’s monthly updated schedules for accuracy and contractor compliance.
- Assist in the review and audit contractor’s invoices.
- Prepare status reports for progress, schedule, and cost.
- Generate cash flow reports and graphs.
- Prepare what-if analyses based on cost and time impacts.
- Prepare estimates based on available information to establish project budgets.
- Review and evaluate contractor proposals and change order requests.
- Promote safety health & environmental awareness cross all projects

- Microsoft Office, Excel and Project software — Report writing, cost reporting and scheduling ability
- The ability to read and understand construction drawings
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see
- Must be able to work shift work with 12-hour shifts
- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday
- Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
Qualifications
- 5+ years relevant plant construction experience such as process plants, power plants etc
- Knowledge of standards and regulations associated with construction on mine sites.
- Experience in mine process plants projects preferred
- Degree in Engineering or related discipline (e.g. Mining/Civil, Mechanical, Construction) is highly preferred.
