Job Description
Exciting opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to work as part of our Underground (above surface) purchasing and logistics stores team. If you’ve got experience as a buyer and are keen to join New Zealand’s largest gold mine, apply today!
The Business Partner — Procurement (Buyer) sources materials and executes transactional purchases that capture best value for OceanaGold operations, while ensuring that materials and service purchases are performed to operational requirements and timelines, using best practice transactional purchasing tools and negotiation skills. The role assists in ensuring that items are stored, issued and receipted according to OceanaGold’s site protocols.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensuring that funds are committed to suppliers on the basis of safety, innovation, quality, service and price.
- Day-to-day transactional purchasing, reorder, expediting of goods and services.
- Compiling and monitoring purchasing metrics from data extraction and standard reports.
- Identification of potential opportunities for purchase order consolidation, reducing/optimizing supplier roles.
- Use of electronic purchasing tools (e.g., Pronto, purchase orders, expedite, reverse auction, ecommerce system).
- Develop and maintain close working relationships with peers, suppliers, and customers.
- Coordinate the movement of rotable spare items to ensure costs/inventory accuracy and processes are maintained.
- Coordinate and action purchasing strategies for bulk consumables.
- Assist in the review of supply contracts and agreements.
- Comply with all safety requirements and observe all company policies and procedures.
- Compile purchasing and materials reports as required.
Qualifications
- Purchasing & Logistics qualification or relevant work experience.
- Full drivers license with the ability to drive a manual vehicle preferred.
Experience:
- Experience in mining or other heavy industry beneficial.
- Developed negotiation skills, capable of planning own workload.
- Good degree of computer literacy (MS Office) essential.
- Purchasing database experience (Pronto) skills preferred.
- Accuracy across data entry.
