Richard Savage, Acting Chief Sustainability Officer

Richard is currently the Acting Chief Sustainability Officer at OceanaGold, a role he assumed in September 2025 after serving as Vice President of External Affairs & Social Performance since July 2023.

With more than 25 years of experience in Sustainability and Social Performance across the mining industry, Richard has held several senior positions including at Rio Tinto and Barrick Gold.

At Barrick Gold, he served as Head of Sustainability for Latin America and Australia Pacific. His extensive international background encompasses work in Australia, Papua New Guinea, South America, Zambia, and Saudi Arabia.

Richard holds a Bachelor of Social Science from Edith Cowan University, Western Australia.
