Our goal to achieve carbon neutral operations by 2050 is in line with a commensurate commitment made by the New Zealand government at a national level. We are actively developing a plan underpinned by practical action to reduce our emissions intensity in the medium-term to support New Zealand’s aim to reduce emissions by 30% from 2005 levels by 2030. 7.2 Local Context We take our position within the local area seriously and respect the Hauraki District Council’s Zero Carbon Promise. This is reflected in our vision for our Waihi operation to be the gold mining company of choice, operating high quality assets delivering superior returns in a responsible manner. We will work with the Council to achieve its aim of achieving a carbon neutral district through consultation and collaboration.
