This will provide a site level action plan, including measures to be implemented and the further studies to be conducted to underpin future performance. The overarching implementation strategy is presented below. The specific short-term actions under consideration for the Waihi North project include the following: • Implementation of energy efficiency measures in the processing plant. • Usage of electrified mining equipment in the underground mine. • Implementation of hydrogen power units to reduce emissions reduction from diesel in haulage trucks (dependent on a trial currently being conducted). • Purchase of certified renewable power. In addition to local measures, the following organisation-wide actions will be progressed to evaluate the viability of broad areas within horizons 2 and 3 with a view to achieving our carbon neutral goal by 2050: • We will seek to implement large scale renewable power generation and storage at mine sites (possibly in partnership with third parties).
