For more than 30 years, we have been contributing to excellence in our industry by delivering sustainable environmental and social outcomes for our communities, and strong returns for our shareholders. Our global exploration, development, and operating experience has created a significant pipeline of organic growth opportunities and a portfolio of established operating assets including the Didipio Mine in the Philippines; Macraes and Waihi operations in New Zealand; and the Haile Gold Mine in the United States of America. The gold, copper, and silver we produce are essential to the renewable energy and transport sectors, lifesaving medical devices and technology that connects communities around the world. They also contribute to sustainable economic growth in the regions where we operate and direct employment for more than 1,700 people. 1.2 Waihi North Project The Waihi North Project represents the further development of the mineral resources in the Waihi Epithermal District and seeks to extend the life of mining activities in Waihi through to at least 2038, with the potential to add over 1.7 million ounces of gold production in that time. The Project will maximize the recovery of the Crown’s resource, provide multiple sources of production, and provide significant economic and public benefits. The Waihi North Project will integrate with many of the existing and consented mining activities in Waihi and will provide mining infrastructure that may be utilised by future mining projects by OceanaGold in the Waihi Epithermal District. The Waihi North Project includes the following key components: • Wharekirauponga Underground Mine • Gladstone Open Pit (“GOP”) • An upgrade to the Processing Plant • Tailings Storage Facility 3 (“TSF3”) • Northern Rock Stack (“NRS”) • An upgrade to the Water Treatment Plant (“WTP”) and reconsenting of the treated water discharge to the Ohinemuri River • Further detail of each project component is provided in the Assessment of Environmental Effects prepared by Mitchell Daysh Limited. 1.3 Waihi North Project OceanaGold understands there are increasing concerns about the industry’s impact on climate change. In 2020, OceanaGold released an updated statement of position on Climate Change, Energy Use and Greenhouse Gas Management, with a goal to achieve net zero greenhouse emissions from their operations by 2050 in support of the Paris Climate Agreement. The scope of this report is to provide an overview of the Company’s position on Climate Change, Energy Use and Greenhouse Gas Management and to outline the strategic actions that will be adopted as part of the Waihi North Project to achieve the Company’s net zero greenhouse gas goal.
