WSP 9 Figure 3-2. Ethnicity per Waihi Town, Local Area and Regional Average1,2 3.2.2 OCEANAGOLD EMPLOYEES3 The number of employees at the Waihi operation averaged at 353 employees per month across 2020 (76 of which are contractors), with the last quarter of 2020 reported at 376 employees. This increase was in line with expectations that employee numbers would increase in 2021 as additional work becomes available. Of the OceanaGold employees who responded to the voluntary employee surveys 259 were mail (87%) and 39 were female (13%). Similar numbers were also found for contractor employees with 66 identifying as male (87%) and 10 as female (13%). The percentage split for gender is not representative of the gender diversity of Waihi Town, the Local area or New Zealand. Additionally, the proportion of OceanaGold employees who identify as Māori was 16 % (43) and 14 % (11) for contractor employees., which is lower than the average of 17.9 % within the Local area. It is also lower than the proportion in New Zealand of 16.5 %. While not all employees responded to the voluntary survey, it is thought that the percentages regarding diversity are the best available representation of the workforce. 2 Average of Waikato and BoP data 3 (Phoenix Research, 2021)
