OceanaGold Waihi North Project Vibration Performance Assessment Page 1 of 41 Project Number: HP2006-2 Heilig & Partners Save Date: 21/06/2022 5:55:00 PM ABN 56 082 976 714 File Name: WAI-985-000-REP-LC-0018_Rev 0 1. BACKGROUND Waihi North Project (WNP) comprises several components, including establishing a new open pit, a new underground mine, and a tunnel linking the underground to the existing Processing Plant area plus a decline from the Willows Road mine service facilities to the planned underground mine. With respect to this blasting assessment, the underground and open pit orebodies include:  Wharekirauponga Underground Mine (WUG), a new mine around 9 kilometres north of the existing Martha pit and Waihi township  The Gladstone Open Pit (GOP), a new pit west of the existing Processing Plant WNP will provide mining over an approximate 13-year period, complementing the already consented Waihi projects and extending the life of mine to 2036. The surface works associated with WNP involve the surface mining associated with the GOP together with the portals works for the two declines and link tunnels (the GOP mines out the existing Martha Underground portal, which will need replacement). The key areas are shown in the following Figure 1. Other works associated with establishing the mine facilities at the mine site are not expected to generate any measurable levels of vibration other than possibly very near to the site works with minor earthworks for constructing the mine buildings. Figure 1 – Plan showing the GOP together with other surface and underground works that form part of WNP The blasting impacts from WUG and the GOP will occur contemporaneously with other mining at Waihi, but all sufficiently distanced from each other to ensure there are no cumulative impacts.
