Supporting Technical Assessments

Stantec // Oceana Gold NZ // Transportation Assessment - Waihi North Project 16 Figure 23: Willows Road Search Area and Crash Records Figure 24 Baxter Road Search Area and Crash Record Figure 25: Kenny Street Access Search Area and Crash Record In summary, there were no crashes that involved vehicles turning into or out of any of the mine access roads or associated intersections. The existing injury crash record does not indicate any current safety concern wi th any of the access roads or adjacent intersections. It is acknowledged that the number of loss of control type crashes on SH25 in the vicinity of the Kenny Street / Barry Road access does appear to be a safety matter that should be monitored, however as noted above, these crashes are not related to the access and more likely related to the road alignment . 3 Historical Mine Operations Historical data for the mine operation was included in the Project Martha consent application (2018) and this has been included for background information and is relevant in demonstrating the baseline for historical traffic movements at the mine accesses. OGNZL has provided various sources of data relating to personnel and traffic demands associated with the mining operations for the most recent 15-year period from 2001 to 2016 with updated data for the 2018 year. The average full time equivalent (FTE) workforce associated with the mine varied between 260 and 470 throughout this period as shown in Figure 26. In the peak year (2011) OGNZL’s predecessor directly or indirectly employed around 420 FTE personnel and 50 casual contractors at any one time.
