Supporting Technical Assessments

Stantec // Oceana Gold NZ // Transportation Assessment - Waihi North Project 12 as readily observed in Figure 17. Figure 17 shows the expected SH25 growth based on a linear regression model which yields a long-term growth rate of 1.3% of the base year (2021) traffic flows. Figure 17: SH25 Linear Growth Trend 2004-2019 It is also noted that the count site on SH25 is located on the urban/rural boundary, and traffic volumes w ill progressively increase closer to the urban centre. Therefore, the traffic volume on SH25 adjacent to the Kenny Street site access has been adjusted based on data included in the Mobile Road website which includes relative traffic volumes for both sections. On this basis, traffic volumes could be expected to be marginally higher since it is within the urban area and much closer to the town centre. The resultant adjustment factor adopted is 1.9, which has been applied to the SH25 volumes for modelling purposes. 2.10.6 SH2 (South of Baxter Road) Data published by Waka Kotahi indicates an annual average daily traffic (AADT) volume for the year 2019 of 11,770 vehicles at count site 00200095, which is located on SH2 immediately south of Crean Road. Hourly traffic volumes for this location during the week ending 27 September 2019 (most recent available data at time of preparat ion) are shown on Figure 18. The data depicted in Figure 18 indicates that the busiest times on this part of the highway are Sunday afternoons on a weekend and Friday evenings on a weekday, with two-way flows of around 1,252 veh/h and 1,087 veh/h respectively (and the Thursday morning peak is similar at around 950 veh/h). It is acknowledged that traffic flows will vary seasonally, and seasonal adjustments have been made as described in sections below. Figure 18: Hourly flow distribution on SH2 week ending 27/09/19
