Supporting Technical Assessments

Install Water Control Devices meets resistance and becomes static, the product will set in one to two minutes. Therefore it is critical that the PUR pump operator closely observes the pump pressure, and depending on the pressure build-up or break-out of the product, adjust air flow to the pump accordingly. In order to achieve a competent annulus of resin, the pump must stall at maximum regulated pressure of 100 bar for a short period, with no visible signs of leakage from surrounding areas of the face. If leakage does occur, these areas should be wadded and pump rates slowed as necessary, in accordance with PRO- 004 PUR Pumping and Injection. 2.6. Pressure Testing of Stand Pipes Remove 63mm packers from stand pipes and fit valves, ensuring thread is in good condition, valves are secure and thread protectors are in place for drilling. Set up jumbo at face in accordance with previous set up procedure. Re drill resin with 64mm bit until the operator determines from colour of ground etc that the bit has broken through into natural ground. When drilling is complete, all holes are to be completely cleared of water and fines with a blowpipe. The standpipes are to be pressure tested with water via the grout pump to 20 bar above local ground water pressure. Standpipes that fail are to be re resined according to the process at 2.5 and retested. Any significant failures from standpipe annulus/face that are unable to be sealed, are to be reported to the supervisor to determine whether grouting or re-positioning of the hole is to occur. The criteria to determine a successful seal or a failed seal will be as follows: Set refusal pressure to 20 bar above local water pressure on the pump at a pump rate of approximately 25L/minute. Maintain this pressure for a period of 30 seconds. If pressure cannot be built and maintained, the standpipe is deemed a failure and notify your supervisor immediately. If in doubt, notify your supervisor immediately. Once all standpipes have passed pressure testing, a drilling round can commence in accordance with cover drilling procedures. 3. HOUSEKEEPING AND EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE 3.1. Maintaining Equipment Well maintained plant will ensure effective and reliable operations. All water control devices should be checked prior to use, with any damaged plant taken out of service and reported to the Supervisor for auditing and stocktake purposes. Many of the temporary water control devices can be re-used, so make sure they are returned to the correct storage area. The storage area for water control devices should be kept at a working level of stock in line with current operations. Check with the Supervisor if stocks are low so that orders can be placed in plenty of time. All ancillary equipment and plant should be cleaned and maintained in accordance with associated procedures.
