Install Water Control Devices 2.2.2. Jumbo installed packer. Mineright Packer Mineright packers have a similar design and purpose to the torque packer; however they have a different valve system. They have a check valve on the leading edge of the unit that stops the water and still allows grout to be injected. Figure: Jumbo packer loaded on boom The Mineright packers are inserted using a purpose made insertion dolly with an appropriately sized hex head and are attached to the drill shank on a Jumbo boom. The Mineright packer is placed in the dolly with the Mineright packer assembly end protruding out the front of the front centraliser of the Jumbo (see picture below). Figure: Mineright packer at correct angle ready for installation. The following steps detail the correct and safe method for installing a Mineright packer with a Development Jumbo: ▪ For holes drilled less that 64mm remove the water stemming plug and ream out to 64mm at the same angle. ▪ With a water stemming plug inserted into the hole, the boom used for the Mineright packer insertion is moved into a position to allow the safe placement of the dolly and Mineright packer onto the boom.
