Install Water Control Devices INTRODUCTION Purpose The purpose of this training package is to provide personnel with the knowledge and training to competently and safely identify and install water control devices at the Didipio mine. Scope This training package covers the identification of temporary and permanent water control devices and installation methods, to provide participants with knowledge of tapered plugs, torque packers, Jumbo packers and standpipes, their application and safe installation using a jumbo, installation by hand, removal, maintenance and storage. Topics covered are: ▪ Tapered plugs ▪ Mineright Packer ▪ Hand installed torque packer ▪ Inflatable packer (calculate inflation pressures) ▪ Standpipe installation and pressure testing (grouted and chemical) ▪ Breastplate installation ▪ Packer removal after grouting Competency 0.5 Restricted: Personnel who do not operate drill rigs do all theory but only the manual installation component of practical (install by hand). 06 Full: Personnel who operate drill rigs do entire assessment. They will need to be under training or hold a competency for the jumbo they are operating. Prerequisites ▪ Metalliferous Generic Induction, Surface and Underground ▪ Workers Induction and Orientation ▪ Underground Induction ▪ Dewatering ▪ Ground Awareness ▪ Manual Scaling ▪ Signs and Barricades ▪ Isolation and Tagging ▪ Introduction to Risk Assessment, JSEA and Take-5 Assessment ▪ Workers required to install water control devices need the operating competency for that machine. ▪ Workers required to work at heights in manbasket will require Work at Heights training.
