Grout Pumping and Injection Operations TR 003 If mixing very thick grout, i.e. < W/B 0.45, add the cement to the mixer more slowly otherwise lumps may form and take longer to mix through properly. For thinner grout, the cement can be added quite quickly. Step 7 Mix the grout for a minimum of 3 minutes after the cement has been added completely. The mixed grout can then be added to the agitator tank. The process for mixing “Blocker” type grout is very similar. See batch card below: The main difference with mixing of “Blocker” grout is that the mixing time should NOT be too long because the longer the mixing time, the more heat is produced in the mix and therefore the setting time gets shorter. So mix “Blocker” grout after the addition of the Thermax, for only as long as is needed until you can see that there is no dry powder visible in the mix and it looks fully mixed. This may take as little as 30 sec or 1 minute. Then transfer the mix to the agitator tank. Remember, the longer it is mixed, the shorter the setting time. The proper mixing of grouts to the specification can then be verified by QA testing. This is covered in the next section. 2.3. Quality Assurance (QA) Testing of the Grout
