Supporting Technical Assessments

REV DATE REVISION DETAILS APPROVED 0 17.06.22 Draft for review. Project WAIHI NORTH Title Erosion and Sediment Control Plan Tailings Storage Facility 3 – Stage 1 Drawn ZW Checked MP Drawing No. ESCP-TSF3-001-02 Sheet No. 2 NOTES 1. All erosion and sediment controls will be installed and maintained in accordance with the Waikato Regional Council Technical Report 2009/02 ‘Erosion and Sediment Control Guidelines for Soil Disturbing Activities’ (TR2009/02). 2. Completed areas to be stabilised in accordance with TR2009/02. 3. All erosion and sediment control measures will be inspected weekly by the site foreman. 4. Site monitoring will be undertaken before and immediately after rain as well as during heavy rainfall events. Any required maintenance or improvements to control measures will be undertaken immediately. SRP-TSF3-04 Catchment area: 3.5ha Total volume: 1,500m3 Dead storage: 450m3 Live storage: 1,050m3 SRP to be located outside of the future Collection Pond footprint. Minimal overland flow to SRP. Majority will be pumped. Chemical treatment will likely be flow/pump activated. Paleo gully excavation area – 3.4ha TSF3 – Embankment Crest Stage 1 Runoff from the construction of the initial section of the TSF3 embankment will continue to be treated by the existing TSF1A pond. KEY Erosion and Sediment Control Clean Water Diversion Dirty Water Diversion Culvert Silt Fence Sediment Retention Pond Clean water diversion perimeter bunding constructed around the paleo undercut to isolate the earthworks area. Construction Methodology Paleo Undercut Unsuitable material removed and replaced with structural fill. Perimeter bunding constructed around the paleo undercut to isolate the earthworks area. All groundwater will be pumped to SRP-TSF3-04 for treatment prior to discharging. If required, chemical treatment will utilise a flow/pump activated dosing system. Pumping rates: SRP-TSF3-03 has been sized based on the predicted pumping rates provided by EGL. A maximum pumping rate of 2,500m3/day is predicted during the excavation (refer to EGL Engineers Report for further details). If SRP-TSF3-04 cannot adequately cope with the volume of pumped water, then it will be pumped to nearby sediment ponds or the TSF1A existing storage ponds. TSF3 Embankment Initially, runoff from the first lift of the TSF3 embankment will be contained by the existing TSF1A infrastructure and storage pond. Existing Collection Pond to be used until decommissioned.
