Location of dust complainants 2002 -2022 Figure 6-9 shows that most complaints have been received from residents living to the east of Martha Pit. These complainants are located in the predominant downwind direction and therefore most likely be impacted by dust emission from the site. However, complaints have also been received from residents located to southeast and west of the pit. Complainants have been located between approximately 140m to 960m from the edge of Martha Pit. Complaints from the more distance residents typically occurred between 2011 and 2014. Approximately 77% of complainants have reported only a single dust nuisance event, and 85% no more than two dust events over the 20-year period. Three complainants have reported more than 5 five dust events. These complaints were received from residents living on Roycroft Street (discussed in Section 6.4.1), George Street and Beach Road. The George Street complaints were received between 2012 and 2014. The Beach Road complaints were received mainly between 2011 and 2015. The complaints from these residents account for approximately 36% of the total dust related complaints received between 2002 and 2022. 6.5 Summary of Current and Past Effects The results of ambient air quality monitoring and the complaints history for the site demonstrate that any increase above background concentrations of deposited dust, TSP, PM10 and silica measured at sites in the vicinity of the mining operation are below the relevant standards and guidelines recommended by MfE and within the current resource consent limits.
