| Project Description | Waihi North Project Air Discharge Assessment - Waihi Surface Facilities | 4396626-1331619777-99 | 16/06/2022 | 13 2.3.3 Rock storage facilities In addition to ore, WNP will produce approximately 28.4 Mt of non-ore-bearing rock which will be primarily stored at the Willows Rock Stack (located 4-5km to the north of Waihi Surface Facilities site at the Willows Road Facility), the NRS, and other temporary stockpiles used across the project (for non-acid forming material). Much of this material will be used for the construction of TSF3, and backfill for the GOP, WUG and MUG, or other rehabilitation activities. The construction of the NRS will require approximately 18ha of topsoil to be progressively stripped and stored in new stockpiles to be formed on the northern side of the NRS and adjacent to Golden Valley Road, and on the western side of the NRS. The proposed NRS will be designed to accommodate up to 7.0 Mm3 of waste rock. The footprint of the NRS encompasses the existing Northern Stockpile area and adjacent land. Figure 2-5 shows the footprint of the NRS and the location of the topsoil stockpiles. Figure 2-5 NRS location and footprint (image supplied by OGNZL) 2.3.4 Earthmoving equipment required for rock and tailings storage Estimates of the mobile equipment that will be required for the construction of the TSF3 and NRS over the life of the mine is summarised in Table 2-2.
