Police Media Relations Any requests from the media for information regarding a mines emergency are to be directed to the LC at the ECC or to the Hamilton Police District Media Liaison Officer. 15.13.1 Public Information Management (PIM) Public Information Management (PIM) is responsible for informing the public about the incident and the response (including actions they need to take), media liaison and monitoring, and community liaison. On the Mine Incident Controller’s direction PIM also issue warnings and advisories. (Usually NZ police will fill this role) The lead agency has responsibility for developing key messages and coordinating with other agencies’ PIM personnel to ensure consistency. A multi-agency PIM group may be required to manage PIM during a response.
