Waihi Emergency Principal Control Plan Approved by: General Manager/SSE Approval Date: 26/03/2021 Next Review:26/03/2022 OceanaGold Waihi WAI-250-PLN-001 Page 38 of 124 Team members are trained and qualified in the following disciplines: Medical (Pre Hospital Emergency Care), BG4 Long Duration Closed Circuit SCBA Underground Rescue, Fire response including use of High and Low Expansion Foam and other extinguishing agents, Open Circuit short duration SCBA, Vertical Rescue at height or depth, HAZMAT Response, confined space rescue, gas detection, vehicle extrication, helicopter longline extraction and remote bush rescue.. Training records for Mines Rescue Team Members are held with the Emergency Response Advisor and INX Intuition. A Team leadership structure is in place dependent on experience and or skill level. Several Team Leaders are trained to Leadership unit standard including CIMS Level IV. Family Liaison Facilities The Waihi Gold Education Building located on Moresby Ave and or the Waihi Baptist Church are both suitable for family liaison, welfare, psychosocial support etc. Extra resources can be arranged through the police liaison officer if required. The Waihi Operation also has a good relationship with the local Civil Defence and victim support groups who can provide further manning for these facilities if required. Waihi Mines Rescue has access to the local FENZ area support person as well. 15.0 EXTERNAL RESOURCES New Zealand Mine Rescue Service NZMRS are available to provide assistance for long duration underground rescue operations. The closest station is located in Huntly and once notified have a response time to Waihi by road of approximately 90 minutes. 15.1.1 Mobilization Procedure for NZ Mines Rescue Service In the event that Emergency response is required at an event at Waihi Operation, the following number is to be called: • Huntly Station 07 828 9772 (24hr emergency contact) 15.1.2 Initial response from NZ Mines Rescue Service (Huntly) • Emergency response personnel will report to the emergency response station to ready for deployment. • The necessary number of teams will be deployed to the mine site and additional teams will remain at the Huntly Station for forward deployment if required. • In the event of a major incident the Huntly Station will be manned at all times. • If an incident warrants it, backup teams/resources are available from Rapahoe located north of Greymouth in the South Island. Mines Rescue has a procedure in place for the deployment of personnel between Rapahoe and Huntly via helicopter and fixed wing aircraft. • If BG4 breathing apparatus is being used, Emergency response personnel will be based at the Rescue Station to clean and re-commission sets. Sufficient stores are maintained to replenish operational supplies as required. BG4 sets could be cleaned and re-commissioned within 2 hours. • A senior emergency response member will be part of the incident management team. • If gas analysis is required, a person trained in the use of the gas chromatograph will be based at the Rescue Station with 24hr expert support available from CMT in Australia. OGL Macraes Operation Mines Rescue Teams Located near Dunedin in the South Island Macraes mine has approximately 50 fully trained emergency response members and could provide assistance for long duration underground rescue operations.
