Waihi Surface Explosives Principal Management Plan Approved by: General Manager Approval Date: 15/10/2017 Next Review: Archived OceanaGold Waihi Doc ID: WAI-350-PLN-003 Page 17 of 31  Boxes, cartons, paper and general refuse which may accumulate during charging shall be removed as it accumulates and shall be stored in the container provided on the explosives vehicles Every member of the shot crew is responsible for ensuring that no person:  Smokes or uses a naked light, or brings any implement or machine likely to generate heat or sparks within six metres of any explosive or any holes being charged No unauthorised personnel or equipment is permitted to enter this area without permission of the Approved Handler or Drill and Blast Supervisor. Where it is necessary to charge one day and fire on another the site will be secured against unauthorised entry. All holes must be clearly marked to indicate their position to other personnel, particularly drillers and others commencing work at a change of shift. Prepared primer charges shall not be stored under any circumstances but must be either dismantled or destroyed. 6.4.2 Non-Standard Holes Non-standard holes include but are not limited to:  Short stemmed holes  Collapsed collar during loading  Over-charged holes  Misfires  Void holes  Short depth holes If a blast crew member comes across a non-standard hole they are to mark the hole with paint and inform the Shotfirer. The Shotfirer must decide on the best method to ‘fix’ the hole and communicate the problem to the person logging the shot and the Drill and Blast Supervisor. The delay assigned to the non-standard hole should be adjusted to allow maximum relief after firing the adjacent production holes. Where deemed necessary blast mats and/or bags of stemming will be placed on non-standard holes. For more information refer to the procedure for non-standard holes; see Appendix I for document details. 6.4.3 Redrills Whilst Loading Should holes require re-drilling be identified during priming the following steps shall be taken:  Holes marked out  Hole area and path of drill rig marked out and delineated to allow a minimum of six metres clearance from any loaded blast hole  Boosters and detonators removed from blast holes within the delineated area before the drill commences tramming onto the blast pattern  An approved handler must be present while a drill rig is on the blast pattern Drill rigs shall not be used within six metres of a loaded hole under any circumstances. 6.5 Firing 6.5.1 Blast Exclusion Zones A pre-determined exclusion zone shall be enforced around the blast. The Blast Controller will locate the required number of Blast Guards in locations which prevent access into the blast exclusion zone. A blast exclusion zone takes into consideration:  Concussion  Fly rock/material  Fumes, ventilation and prevailing wind conditions  Air blast  Subsidence  Adjacent infrastructure
