SECTION 1 Introduction C:\D Data\GWS C Drive\GWS\Client Files\1344 OGL - WKP\4 Deliverables\WKP Final Draft Report\June Report\WAI-985-000-REP-LC-0030. Final_Rev_0.docx 2 • Potential for effects on surface waters • Potential for effects on other groundwater users • Potential for ground settlement effects • Potential for effects on plant growth This report has been prepared based on recent testing and historic information from the Wharekirauponga and adjacent areas in the Coromandel that provide an understanding based on a long association with groundwater systems in the region. This understanding has been taken forward alongside the project scope and has included further technical analysis to enable potential associated effects to be identified. At the time of preparing this report other specialists are undertaking further assessment of the potential effects identified herein. Flosolutions are developing a 3-dimensional numerical model of the Wharekirauponga catchment that will simulate groundwater-surface water interaction such that the potential effects indicated in this assessment can be better quantified and mitigation options tested for effectiveness. Valenza Engineering have also been engaged by OGC to develop a project specific, groundwater management strategy that proposes mitigation using various grouting techniques. Once these assessments have been further advanced, the envelope of potential effects following the application of engineered mitigation can be more clearly quantified. The results of those further assessments are not included in this report.
