Supporting Technical Assessments

12552081 5 – A confidence range on model results will be determined to support trigger level definitions. 2.3 Compliance Monitoring Evaluation and Trigger Levels Trigger values will be developed based on a maximal expected deviation from the WBM flow predictions, whereby it could be demonstrated that the catchment response is deviating from pre-mining behaviour. If trigger values are exceeded (ie. Measured flows are below the WBM statistical generated range based on antecedent climate conditions), additional data analysis, monitoring and/or mitigation will be undertaken. This will likely involve one or more of the following action items with items generally undertaken on an escalating scale as follows: – Data will be checked for accuracy / inconsistencies. – Data trends will be compared to the reference location (T-Stream West) for consistency / inconsistencies. – Data will be compared to any observed trends in water levels in the installed shallow groundwater piezometers. – Historical baseline data will be reanalysed for evidence of similar flow patterns and potential climatic drivers of the observed data. – Visual inspection of recording devices will be undertaken to ensure they are measuring accurately. – Undertake an out of cycle manual flow gauging event (over and above proposed quarterly events) to ensure calibration of flow curves is up to date and WBM is accurate within its predictions. – Undertake visual inspection and gauging at other locations – with particular focus on groundwater seeps. – Provide report of findings to the consenting authority within x number of days outlining the data, additional data analysis / monitoring undertaken and recommendations. – Provide mitigation to limit further flow loss and/or amend flow loss where it is deemed appropriate as agreed between OceanaGold and the regulatory authority. 3.
