The site is a relatively flat area located up an existing farm access road. The site was investigated by a 9.6 m deep borehole (WFBH008), which encountered silty soils to 3.6 m depth, overlying completely weathered weak andesite. Road pavements constructed for access to the site of WNDD008 performed satisfactorily and the ground conditions suggest that suitable founding strata are present for supporting lightweight structures such as the magazine. No indication has been observed of slope instability affecting the site of the proposed magazine.
