Seven geotechnical units were identified by PSM: – Ignimbrite – Dacite (in north east only) – Volcaniclastic (in north east only) – Andesite – Classes 1 to 4, with Class 1 the highest and Class 4 the lowest rock quality. Representative specimens were sourced from each geotechnical unit and further laboratory tests were conducted, including multistage consolidated undrained (CU) triaxial tests and uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) tests. The CU triaxial tests and UCS were conducted in rock with typical strength as equal or less than R1 and R2,
