Proposed Resource Consent Conditions

9 Condition Explanation Receiving Environment Standards G33 The discharges authorised by these consents and any associated seepage, in combination with all other discharges authorised for the Consent Holder’s mining activities: a. shall not cause a significant adverse effect on groundwater beyond the boundary of land owned by the Consent Holder, or on users of that resource; and b. shall not cause a significant adverse effect on the receiving surface water, aquatic biota, or on users of these resources. To that end the activities authorised by these consents, either separately or in combination, shall not cause the receiving water standards in Table 1 to be exceeded: Table 1: Receiving Water Quality Standards Parameter Receiving Water Concentration g/m3 unless otherwise stated Hardness 20 g/m3 CaCO3 Hardness 100 g/m3 CaCO3 pH 6.5 to 9.0 6.5 to 9.0 Suspended solids For upstream concentrations of less than or equal to 100 g/m3 the increase shall be no greater than 10 g/m3. For upstream concentrations of greater than 100 g/m3 the increase shall be no greater than 10% For upstream concentrations of less than or equal to 100 g/m3 the increase shall be no greater than 10 g/m3. The Boffa Miskell aquatic ecology assessment has not recommended any changes to these standards.
