Site-specific Assessments of Environmental Effects

B-1 - Area 1, Coromandel Forest Park – Assessment of Environmental Effects 46 Figure 27: Proposed amenities facility concept. 3.2.4 Explosives Magazines Secure Class 1 explosives magazines conforming to the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017 will be constructed underground close to the orebody. These will consist of a high explosive and an emulsion magazine with target capacities of 6T and 34,000T respectively. The location and holding capacity of the magazines will be selected to ensure the required surface overpressure offsets do not extend beyond the footprint of the vent raises. 3.2.5 Exploration Drilling While modelling has been undertaken to predict the likely extent of vein strike extensions, further exploration drilling is required to confirm the mine design. As the tunnel development approaches the Wharekirauponga orebody, drilling platforms will be established underground to determine the vertical and horizontal extents of the orebody and improve the resource category confidence. Drives will also be progressively developed to allow exploration of the T-Stream and western vein strikes. Diamond drilling rigs will be set up to drill from these underground drill drives in accordance with the planned exploration and resource drilling program. Drill cores will be processed and stored in the existing OGNZL Waihi operations facilities.
