B-3 – Area 3 - Assessment of Environmental Effects 51 overburden from the WUG Access Tunnel and WUG will be similar and integrate into that existing management regime; and Water encountered during the tunnel construction will be drained to sumps. Water not recycled for drilling purposes will be pumped via the mine services to the WTP for treatment and discharge. Accordingly, non-point discharges associated with activities will not be inconsistent with the policy directives set out in Policy 1, Section 3.9 (noting that matters with respect to tangata whenua are addressed in Section 5 of the Overarching AEE). 7.6.1.5 Damming / Diverting The outcomes sought for the damming and diverting of water are described in Objective 3.6.2 and associated Policy 2. These provisions collectively seek that damming and diversion (as relevant): Does not generate adverse effects that are inconsistent with the water management objectives in Section 3.1.2 or associated surface water policies in Section 3.2.3;64 Results in no increase in the adverse effects of flooding or land instability hazards;65 and Take account of the consequent loss of water quality and any associated reduction in contaminant assimilative capacity, minimum flows and allocable flows for out of stream uses.66 In accordance with these directives: Section 7.6.1.1 considers the effects of damming and diversion activities with respect to the objectives and policies within Sections 3.1.2 and Section 3.2.3.67 As discussed in Section 7.6.1.4, activities within Area 3 will not result in an increase in flooding or land instability effects.68 As discussed in Section 5.4.1 of this AEE, there will be no surface drainage effects arising as a result of the diversion of groundwater within Area 3. Accordingly, the diversion will not result in a reduction in surface water quality, contaminant assimilative capacity, minimum flows or water allocation within surface waterbodies;69 and 64 Objective 3.6.2(a) and Policy 1(a), Section 3.6, Waikato Regional Plan. 65 Objective 3.6.2(d), Section 3.6, Waikato Regional Plan. 66 Objective 3.6.2(g), Section 3.6, Waikato Regional Plan. 67 Objective 3.6.2(a) and (b), Section 3.6, Waikato Regional Plan. 68 Objective 3.6.2(d), Section 3.6, Waikato Regional Plan. 69 Objective 3.6.2(g), Section 3.6, Waikato Regional Plan.
