B-2 – Area 2 - Assessment of Environmental Effects 12 environment in the Rural Zone and Conservation (Indigenous Forest) Zone at and around the Willows Road Farm. The monitoring revealed that day-time ambient noise levels are low and night-time levels are lower at MP1. The loudest noises recorded were likely from birds and wind. Day and night-time noise levels were higher at MP2 than at MP1, reflecting the greater proximity of MP2 to traffic noise from SH25. 2.9 HISTORIC HERITAGE The historic heritage values at Area 2 are described in Clough (2022), a copy of which is provided in Part H of these application documents. Clough identifies two heritage features at the site: The High-Level Walmsley Timber Tramway (the ‘Walmsley Tramway’); and The Mataura Stream Water Race. The location of each is shown in Figure 6. The Walmsley Tramway used to be present onsite. This was a horse-drawn tramway used to carry timber to Waihi. It is registered as New Zealand Archaeological Association (“NZAA”) site T13/963. It is also shown as heritage item HAU265 in the HDP, although its mapped extent (HDP map no. 25) does not extend to the onsite features identified by Clough (2022). This feature has limited heritage significance because none of its structural elements remain (Clough 2022).
