B-1 - Area 1, Coromandel Forest Park – Assessment of Environmental Effects 129 Extensive mitigation and offsetting activities within CFP will ensure the significant ecological values associated with this significant natural area are protected and enhanced as described in Section 5.2 and 5.4 of this AEE; 167 The offsetting and net gain components of the project will provide substantial net gains with respect to indigenous biodiversity. These works include: 168 o approximately 5.5 ha of buffer planting along the edges of CFP and associated stock exclusion fencing and pest and weed management; o planting along the north east ridge of Willows Farm, amounting to approximately 4.15 ha); o wide scale pest management, over a combined area of approximately 632 ha; and, o the Biodiversity Project. The work undertaken by OGNZL relating to Archey’s Frog will promote greater awareness and understanding of Archey’s Frog, supporting their ongoing protection and enhancement.169 The activities within Area 1 will be managed such that the intrinsic, cultural and amenity values of the CFP and SNA are protected; the life supporting capacity of ecosystems, the mauri of natural resources and the extent and representativeness of indigenous biodiversity are protected and enhanced; and significant indigenous vegetation and significant habitats of indigenous fauna will be protected and enhanced. 7.6.2.3 Outstanding Natural Landscapes / Features and Amenity Landscapes Section 6.3 of the HDP relates to the management of outstanding natural features / landscapes and amenity landscapes in accordance with the direction set out in s6 and 7 of the RMA. Protecting the integrity and aesthetic, cultural and intrinsic values of outstanding natural features and landscapes is the outcome sought by Objective 1.
